Suspected Jaish terrorist assigned to kill Nupur Sharma arrested in UP haraspur
Police in Uttar Pradesh on Friday arrested a suspected terrorist from Saharanpur district. Defendant allegedly directed to kill Nupur Sharma.
Lucknow : Uttar Pradesh Police's Counter-Terrorism Team on Friday arrested a suspected terrorist with links to Jaish-e-Mohammed, who was tasked with killing suspended BJP spokesman Nupur Sharma.
The accused Mohammad Nadeem is from Kunda Kala village of Gangoh police station area in Saharanpur district, Superintendent Prashant Kumar of Uttar Pradesh Additional Police (Law and Order) said, in a press release.
ADGP claims that police recovered chats and voicemails from Nadeem's phone and that these messages were tracked from Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Defendant is accused of murdering Nupur Sharma, whose reprehensible remarks about the Prophet Muhammad provoked widespread protests and condemnation.
During his interrogation, Nadeem admitted that he had been in direct contact with JeM since 2018 and that the team had invited him to Pakistan and Syria for special training.
Two SIM cards and documents on the preparation of bombs were also recovered from the accused.
Uttar Pradesh Police charged Mohammad Nadeem under the Illegal Activities (Prevention) Act.
