Ambassador Rabab Fatima Appointed Secretary-General of the United Nations

Ambassador Rabab Fatima, Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the United Nations has been appointed because the Under Secretary General of the United Nations. 

Ambassador Rabab Fatima, Bangladesh's Permanent Representative  to the United Nations, has been appointed Secretary-General of the United Nations. Secretary General Antonio Guterres  announced the appointment of Ambassador Fatima. She succeeds Courtenay Rattray of Jamaica, who has been appointed Chief of Staff.


Interesting facts about Rabab Fatima: 
1) Ambassador Rabab Fatima is the primary lady diplomat from Bangladesh to be appointed to this post.
2)With his appointment as Secretary-General of the United Nations, Rabab Fatima has become the highest-ranking Bangladeshi official in the United Nations system.
3)The appointment of Rabab Fatima demonstrates Bangladesh's close attachment to  the multilateral diplomatic system and recognizes the professionalism of Bangladeshi diplomats.

Rabab Fatima's career: 
1)Ambassador Rabab Fatima is a profession diplomat from Bangladesh. She had joined the Bangladesh Foreign Service in 1989.
2)Before that, she served as Bangladesh Ambassador  to Japan from 2016 to 2019 and held various positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Bangladesh Delegation in New York, Kolkata, Geneva and Beijing.
