Accepting PM Modi's 'friendship' invitation, Israeli Prime Minister visits India

Jarusalem : Emphasizing that India-Israel relations are based on "mutual appreciation and meaningful cooperation", Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett  said he will visit India in the first week of April to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the year. year of establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries. 

 The visit also aims to expand  cooperation between the two countries in the fields of innovation and technology, security and cyber security, agriculture and climate change. 

 "Prime Minister Naftali Bennett will make his first official visit to India on Saturday,  April 2, 2022, at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi", Foreign Communications Adviser to the Prime Minister of Israel said in a statement.

The two leaders met for the first time on the sidelines of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow last October when Prime Minister Modi  invited Prime Minister Bennett to pay an official visit to India, according to a press release. solstice. 

 “This visit will reaffirm the important bond between nations and  leaders, and will mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of relations between Israel and India,” he added. 

 Sources familiar with the matter told PTI  it will be a four-day visit from April 2 to April 5.

"The purpose of the visit is to promote and consolidate strategic alliances between the countries and  expand bilateral relations. In addition, the leaders will discuss  strengthening  cooperation in many fields, including innovation, economics, research and development, agriculture and more," said the media advisor. 

 Bennett will meet his Indian counterpart, senior government officials as well as the local Jewish community during his visit.

According to the statement, the full itinerary of the tour and additional details will be announced separately. 

 “I am delighted to be making my first official visit to India at the invitation of my friend, Prime Minister Modi, and together we will continue to pave the way for  relations between our countries,” Bennett said in Hasty press release. “Modi has revived the India-Israel relationship, and that has historical significance. The relationship between our two unique cultures - Indian culture and  Jewish culture - is profound and is based on deep appreciation and meaningful cooperation,” he said.
