Prudence and corruption India's two great challenges must be fought together: PM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said the two major challenges facing the country are autocracy and monarchy, and corruption, and said "we must fight together" these challenges .

New Delhi : Addressing the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort on the 76th Independence Day, Modi described the housewarming regime as a "crime" and said the country must unite against it.

“We must give opportunities to people with talent and who  will work for the betterment of the nation. Talent will be the foundation of New India,” he said.

“When I talk about autocracy and dynasties, people think that I am only talking about politics,” Modi said.

He added that to purge every institute in India, it is necessary to give opportunities  to those who deserve them.

“We must unite as a society to punish those who sow corruption,” he added.

Modi added that the nation is showing "anger against corruption, but not against corrupt people".

“Until people have the mentality to punish the corrupt, the country will not be able to progress at the optimal rate,” he said.

Modi in his speech emphasized the fight against corruption and autocracy or monarchy, two major challenges facing the country.

"We must fight  corruption with all our might. Over the past eight years, we have discovered black money through Aadhaar, DBT and mobile phones."
