India Covid counts below 10,000 per day after almost 2 months, 8,813 new cases

 The total death toll is now  527,098 after 29 deaths were reported in  24 hours, according to ministry data. So far, 43,638,844 people have recovered from the virus, according to  government figures.

New Delhi : For the first time in nearly two months, India's Covid toll fell below 10,000 on Tuesday with 8,813 new infections, according to the Ministry of Health's daily bulletin, the Health Ministry's daily bulletin said. The number hovers above the 10,000 mark amid concerns about the virus spreading to some parts of the country. 

        The total death toll is now  527,098 after 29 deaths were reported in  24 hours, according to ministry data. This includes eight from Delhi, one  from Assam, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Maharashtra, Nagaland, Odisha, Sikkim and Tripura;  each from Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir. 

 Punjab has adjusted its death toll, according to state mortality figures on the Department of Health website. However, there are no exact updates on the deaths. 

 The number of active cases in India is now  111,252, or 0.25% of the total number of cases. The total number of cases in India - recorded since the start of the pandemic - is now  4,42,39,372, according to ministry data. 

 The daily positivity rate is said to be 4.15%, while the weekly positivity rate is 4.79%, the ministry said in the health bulletin. The mortality rate is 1.19%. 

 So far, 43,638,844 people have recovered from the virus, according to  government figures. Of that total, 15,040 people have recovered in the past 24 hours. 

 Meanwhile, 2,08,31,24,694 doses of the Covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far as part of a national vaccination campaign.
