Chipko Movement

The chipko Movement was a forest conservation movement in india. The movement originated in 1973 at the Himalayan region of Uttarakhand and went on to become a rallying point for many future environmental movements all over the world. It created a precedent for starting nonviolent protest in India.

There are many responsible people who have become awair of their role to bring harmony back into the world-like the ‘Chipko Movement”. Some caring villagers from the Gharwal region of Uttaranchal in Northern India started a movement against deforestation. They hugged the trees in an attempt to prevent the wood cutters from cutting the down!!
